We have not only focused on building the most advanced trading platform we have invested in concurrent systems in multiple locations and have in-depth contingency plans to ensure that our system can be up and running under any circumstance.
No one ever could have foreseen the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, but our technology was prepared to handle them. When eSpeed lost 180 of its employees as well as its global headquarters, on September 13 when bond trading resumed in the US, eSpeed was able to handle the resumed volume without problems. Our European and Asian services were never interrupted. This not only took the built-in redundancy of our system. It took heart.
Then again, during the blackout of 2003, when most of the east coast of the United States lost power, eSpeed was there, performing seamlessly, unaffected, around the world.
